Britain’s Queen Elizabeth celebrates her 96th Birthday with joy. 

London: On Thursday (April 21), gun salutes boomed out over London and Windsor. Military bands performed “Happy Birthday” as Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 96th Birthday at her Sandringham estate. 

In a portrait released for the occasion, Britain’s longest-serving queen, who is celebrating a historic platinum jubilee this year, was pictured with two white ponies. 

Ministers from the government joined members of the royal family in wishing the queen well, who has stepped aside from most public duties this year due to health concerns.

She has traveled from Windsor Castle, west of London, to Sandringham, Norfolk, to celebrate her Birthday. 

“An example to many many across the UK, the Commonwealth, and the world,” her grandson Prince William and his wife Kate wrote on Twitter.

In a video message to the queen, Prime Minister Boris Johnson, visiting India, wished her a happy birthday and gave a “heartfelt homage” to her “70 years of dedicated and impeccable service to our country and the Commonwealth.” 

To commemorate the jubilee, Mattel released a special Barbie doll of the queen dressed in an ivory gown with a blue ribbon and wearing her bridal tiara.

When her father, King George VI, died on February 6, 1952, while she was on an international tour in Kenya, Elizabeth became queen of the United Kingdom and more than a dozen other countries, including Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. 

Her husband, Prince Philip, who died last year at the age of 99 after spending more than seven decades by her side, broke the news. 

When she ascended the throne, Josef Stalin, Mao Zedong, and Harry Truman were in charge of the Soviet Union, China, and the United States. At the same time, Winston Churchill was the British prime minister.

Elizabeth has generally avoided the spotlight after spending a night in the hospital in October for an unexplained condition and being advised to rest. 

She was diagnosed with Covid-19 in February and has stated that it has left her exhausted. 

As a result, she has missed events such as the Remembrance Sunday gathering and the Easter service. 

However, she attended a memorial ceremony for her husband at Westminster Abbey in London last month with other family members and dignitaries.
