Canada defeated the United States 2-0 in World Cup qualifying. 

Canada scored early and then later to beat their U.S. men’s national team 2 to 0 on Sunday, ensuring they keep their unbeaten record intact and increase their lead to the end of the game of CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers.

Canada took an assist from U.S. keeper Matt Turner in the seventh minute. Jonathan David set up Cyle Larin, who sprinted forward before firing through a falling Turner in the seventh minute, sending the fans in Tim Hortons Field into a panic.

Sam Adekugbe added a second deep into the second-half of end-of-game time to seal the win for Canada.

“The guys feed me the ball, and Jonathan up top helps me a lot,” said Larin, who became the world’s top goalscorer with 23 goals.

“We’re a close team. We’re a brotherhood.”

Canada is top of the table with 22 points, whereas Canada is second on the list with 18 points. At the same time, the U.S. is second on 18 and Mexico take on Costa Rica later on Sunday second with 17 marks. This is in the eight-team league.

Following the match, Berhalter had a positive review of his team’s efforts in the run-up to playing Honduras at St. Paul, Minnesota, on Wednesday. Canada go towards El Salvador.

“It was a game where, with that performance, you don’t expect to lose that game,” Berhalter stated.

“So for us, we say, put it away, it’s done. Turn the page. Now it’s about Honduras.”

Three teams in the top 3 from the group will be guaranteed to qualify for World Cup qualification. World Cup is starting in Qatar at the end of November.
