Chelsea has confirmed Andreas Christensen is leaving

Chelsea announced Friday that defender Andreas Christensen would depart the club at the end of the season when his contract expires. After ten years at Stamford Bridge, the Denmark international is poised to join Barcelona.

He hadn’t played for Chelsea since retiring from the FA Cup final against Liverpool on the morning of the match, which Chelsea lost on penalties.

Danny Drinkwater, a former Leicester midfielder, is leaving the Premier League club, while Antonio Rudiger has already agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.

In 161 games with the Blues, Christensen scored twice and won a variety of titles, including the Champions League and Europa League.

“Chelsea Football Club respects Andreas for his contribution to our achievements over the previous decade and wishes him the best of luck in his future career,” the Blues stated in a statement on their website.

Drinkwater, a former England international, came to London from Leicester in 2017 but only made 23 appearances during an unsatisfactory stay that included numerous loan periods.
