China puts 26 million people under lockdown due to 4th wave of Covid 19.
A surge of Covid-19 in China has placed its largest metropolis, Shanghai, under lockdown. Shanghai has a population of over 26 million people.
According to the local administration, the Pudong financial district and surrounding regions in Shanghai will be closed from early Monday (March 28) to Friday as part of citywide mass testing.
The enormous downtown region west of the Huangpu River, which divides the city, will begin its five-day closure on Friday in the second phase of the lockdown.

Residents are asked to stay at home.
To ensure no interaction with the outside world, residents will be made to stay at home, and deliveries will be placed at checkpoints.
In addition, all non-essential offices and companies will be shuttered, and public transportation will be suspended.
Many neighborhoods in Shanghai have already been shut down, with inhabitants being forced to take multiple Covid-19 tests. The Disney theme park in Shanghai was one of the enterprises previously shuttered.
In March, China has reported more than 56,000 coronavirus infections, with most of them coming from a raging outbreak in the northeastern province of Jilin.
However, in response to China’s largest epidemic since the pandemic began two years ago, Beijing has maintained its ‘dynamic zero-Covid’ policy.
The method concentrates on eradicating community transmission of the virus as rapidly as possible, which may necessitate the closure of entire cities.
