In a display of confidence, the count of votes was to begin in Goa the Congress demanded an interview with the governor later in the afternoon.
Congress sources told reporters that today’s party’s leaders requested one-on-one time with Gov. PS Sreedharan Pillai at 3 pm.

Congress sources claim they will win a majority and “learning from mistakes made in the 2017 election”, the party has requested an appointment ahead of time.
In 2017 Congress came out as the single largest but could not create a government because it was slow in forming alliances.
The BJP, even though it won fewer seats than the Congress, was able to win the support of smaller parties like MGP, the Maharashtra Gomantak Party (MGP), and independent MLAs.
The last time around, a more active Congress dispatched their firefighters P Chidambaram and DK Shivakumar early in the state to discuss possible alliances if the party fails and has to make significant decisions.
They have reached out to MGP, The Trinamool Congress, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), each expected to win enough seats to play kingmakers.
The exit polls predict a hung decision in Goa and the state of Goa, with 16 seats between Congress and the BJP along with the Congress, which is less than the threshold of 21 seats in the assembly of 40 members.
Congress candidates were seated at the north of Goa this week, even though the guests maintained an opportunity to celebrate birthdays.
