Ashwani Kumar

Former law minister Ashwani Kumar on Tuesday (February 15, 2022) announced his resignation from his position with Congress in the course of a 45-year partnership and stated that Congress had lost contact with the people.

Kumar announced his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and became the most recent leader to resign because of discontent with the leadership of the Congress.

“Having taken a thoughtful look to this issue, I’ve concluded that under the present conditions and in line with my integrity, I would be the best person to serve greater national interests outside of the political party,” the former Rajya Sabha MP stated when he resigned in his letter of resignation.

“I will therefore leave the party following a long relationship of nearly 46 years. I intend to take on public causes that are influenced by the concept of a transformative leadership model, based on the dignity of a free democracy as imagined through our libertarians,” He added.

Kumar started to PTI media agency that the old party was no longer in contact with reality and was no longer reflecting the nation’s mood.

He also stated a shortage of inspiring leadership and debilitating internal processes functioning.

Congress has lost in Punjab.

Ashwani Kumar has quit Congress amid elections for the state legislature in five states, and ahead of the polls in Punjab, the state where he was a member of Rajya Sabha twice earlier, said that the Congress party was likely to lose the 20th February Assembly elections.

“I have been engaged in the work of the party’s organization during the election in Punjab for several weeks, and based on what I’ve observed on the ground, it appears to me that Aam Aadmi Party is gaining ground.

Aam Aadmi Party is moving forward with a massive majority,” he told IANS.

He also targeted Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and stated that nobody has been able to do anything for the party aside from the three members.

“Channi declares that he comes from an impoverished family, so why does he have an estimated value of Rs 10-12 crore in his home. Therefore, according to Congress, the concept of being poor has been changed, especially specifically for Channi,” he said.

“Congress is ridiculed in Punjab. Except for three members, no one has done anything for the party. It’s beyond my comprehension how the past party will progress in these conditions. From what I’ve read, Congress is losing elections in Punjab, and Aam Aadmi Party is winning hand-in-hand,” Kumar added.

It should be noted that Congress has witnessed some resignations, the most recent of which was the former Union Minister RPN Singh.

Some prominent leaders who have recently resigned from the party comprise Jyotiraditya Scindia Jitin Prasada, Sushmita Dev, and Luizinho Faleiro.
