Cowboys quarterback Prescott apologizes for praising fans who threw garbage at officials.

Dallas player Dak Prescott apologized Tuesday for praising fans who hurled insults at officials during their home loss of 23-17 to San Francisco in the NFC Wild Card game over the weekend.

When asked by reporters what he thought about the fan’s actions when his team ran out of time in an attempt to come back late last Sunday, Prescott declared “credit to them.”

However, on Tuesday, Prescott declared that the former president “deeply regretted the comments.” MORE: Brutal Barty slays Bronzetti to get the third round.

“I regard the NFL Officials to the highest standards and have always been awed by their professionalism and the challenges they face.

“The security of anyone who goes to a game or takes part in the event of sport is a significant concern.

“That was a mistake on my behalf, and I am sorry.”

However, with only a few seconds left, they could not snap off the ball before the clock for the game ended.

Earlier Tuesday, the National Basketball Referees Association condemned Prescott’s comments as “condoning violence against game officials.”

“As an NFL leader, he should know better,” the league tweeted.

“We encourage the NFL to take action to discourage this deplorable behavior in the future.”
