The Congress party has revealed the names of ten candidates for the Rajya Sabha elections, but several famous figures have been left off the list. Dissatisfaction is developing in the party as a result of this circumstance.
Rajasthan has three candidates: Randeep Singh Surjewala, Mukul Wasnik, and Pramod Tiwari. All three candidates are from outside of Rajasthan.
Sanyam Lodha, a Congress MLA from Sirohi in Rajasthan, has raised the issue, saying that the party would have to explain why no one was nominated from the state.
In a tweet on Sunday, he asked the Congress party, “What is the motive for not nominating any Congress leader/worker from Rajasthan, a contender in the Rajya Sabha elections?”

Pawan Khera, a Congress candidate from Rajasthan, ran for the Rajya Sabha. However, his name does not appear on the list. “Maybe something is lacking in my penance,” he wrote in Hindi after the list was released.
In the Rajya Sabha elections on Sunday, the Congress chose seemingly lightweight candidates like Imran Pratapgarhi and Ranjeet Ranjan, despite predictions that veterans Ghulam Nabi Azad and Anand Sharma would be accommodated. Pratapgarhi, the party’s minority department head and a poet from Uttar Pradesh from Maharashtra, has been nominated.
“Our 18 years of penance too fell short in front of Imran Bhai,” Congress politician Nagma said on Twitter.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan BJP head Satish Poonia has made a dig at the Congress. He tweeted in Hindi, saying, “Rajasthan hosted the Congress’ Chintan Shivir. Take a look at another result of this way of thinking. Keep an eye on the local candidate quota….who will be ‘vocal’ if there aren’t any ‘locals’?”
Rajeev Shukla, Ajay Maken, and Jairam Ramesh will represent Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Karnataka, respectively, in the next Rajya Sabha elections, the Congress party announced on Sunday.
The party has announced the names of ten candidates from seven states who will run in the June 10 elections.
P Chidambaram, a Rajya Sabha member, has been re-nominated from Tamil Nadu, while Ranjeet Ranjan has been nominated from Chhattisgarh. The party has selected Vivek Tankha, a candidate from Madhya Pradesh.
“Would you inform us how many of these candidates are from OBC/SC/ST?” tweeted Gujarat Congress co-in-charge Jitendra Baghel in response to the list.
In a statement issued by General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi accepted them as Congress candidates to fight the annual elections to the Rajya Sabha from the states.
On June 10, elections will be held for 57 Rajya Sabha seats across 15 states.
