Singapore, Telok Blangah Fire: When news broke about numerous fires taking place in Telok Blangah, Bedok North, and Tampines, the entire city of Singapore was in shock.
In all likelihood, it’s not often we learn of such severe fires happening within hours of one another.
Two individuals were taken to the hospital. Homes were destroyed. However, the latest details have come to light.
An older man is believed to have started the flames that erupted in Telok Blangah. Police are currently detaining the man.
Fire breaks out at Telok Blangah HDB block
In the early dawn of the Sunday (29 January) morning, residents in Block 39 Telok Blangah Rise awoke to the smell of foul smoke.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) responded to an alert around 4.40 am. Unfortunately, they discovered that the inferno had consumed the entire unit on the 10th floor when they arrived.

As they put away the fires, firefighters evacuated nearby residents. Then, they carried an entry forcibly into the apartment just above the burning unit.
Officers found an unconscious woman in the hallway. They immediately took her to the lift lobby, where an ambulance team helped her by administering CPR.
The woman was then taken to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) by ambulance. The paramedics also transported another patient to SGH to treat smoke inhalation.
The evacuation of 280 people was a common sight. They were being evacuated from their homes as a security step.
The Shin Min Daily News Police report later detained the 73-year older man who is believed to be the house’s proprietor where the fire started.
In response to the newspaper’s questions, police stated the arrest was made on suspicions of arson.
