FIFA issues $1 million for humanitarian aid in Ukraine

FIFA issues $1 million for humanitarian aid in Ukraine.

FIFA announced on Saturday that it has provided medical supplies to the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) and has donated $1 million to the FIFA Foundation for humanitarian relief in Ukraine.

Following Russia’s invasion on February 24, more than 3.3 million people have fled Ukraine across its western border, with another 2 million displaced within the nation.

The World Health Organization announced on Thursday that it had confirmed 43 attacks on healthcare facilities in Ukraine, with 12 people killed and scores injured, including health workers.

“The first supply of first-aid medical items has already been dispatched to Ukraine by road to satisfy the most urgent needs,” FIFA stated.

“The FIFA Foundation has received a total of $1 million to help it respond to the rising humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and the surrounding. This project is being carried out with the help of the football community.”

FIFA’s Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (RSTP) were changed earlier this week to allow Ukrainian soccer players to be registered outside a transfer window.

FIFA has also announced that a temporary transfer window will be opened for international players stranded in Russia. It has barred Russia’s national teams and clubs from playing in international competitions.
