India Moves Up Two Places in FIFA Ranking to 104

India Moves Up Two Places in FIFA Ranking to 104: With a two-place climb to 104th in the most recent FIFA global rankings revealed on Thursday, the Indian football team had a successful harvest from their excellent Asian Cup qualifying campaign.

The Blue Tigers sit only ahead of New Zealand (103rd), who was eliminated from qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup after falling to Costa Rica 0-1 in the intercontinental play-off earlier this month.

However, India’s position among the members of the Asian Football Confederation remained constant at 19th. At number 23, Iran held the top rank among AFC nations.

The squad coached by Sunil Chhetri achieved their greatest ever Asian Cup qualifying run earlier this month when they won all three of their league games to finish first in Group D and qualify for the 24-team Finals in 2023.

India qualified for the fifth time overall, making it the first time the nation qualified for back-to-back Asian Cups.

Three months after displacing Belgium from the top position in the overall standings, Brazil is still in the first place (2nd).

Argentina moved up one spot to third, knocking France (4th) off the podium as punishment for their four consecutive losses in the UEFA Nations League.

The top 10 is completed by Denmark, England, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, and Portugal.

On August 25, FIFA will release its most recent global rankings.
