Kerala-Karnataka border restrictions continue

Even after being detained by the Karnataka High Court for negative mandatory Covid certificates to enter the state, the Kerala government has yet to lift the restrictions.

On Wednesday, travelers, who failed to present a negative RT-PCR certificate at the border, were not allowed to enter the state. They were asked to return from the Makkoottam Churam road, Malayala Manorama reported. Two passengers, who were traveling on a bus from Kerala RTC to Bangalore, were also dropped off at the checkpoint as they were not carrying a negative Covid certificate.

On the other hand, Karnataka has not restricted people traveling through Kutta, Attibelle and other checkpoints. Travelers crossing the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border were also screened for negative e-pass and RT-PCR test certificates.

Study: Risky Surgery for Positive Patients

A study by experts from the University of Birmingham has found that patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 are more likely to die during surgery and have therefore been asked to delay such procedures for at least six weeks.

56 hospitals in India participated, including some in Kerala, which participated in this global study, The Times Of India reported. The results of the study have been published in the journal ‘Anesthesia’.
