Mastercard Will Be The New Title Sponsor For BCCI

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Mastercard announced their partnership on Monday to increase their strategic outreach to Indian audiences.

All international matches (both men’s and women’s) played on home soil during this association, domestic cricket games like the Irani Trophy, Duleep Trophy, and Ranji Trophy organized by the BCCI, as well as all junior cricket (U19 and U23) match played in India, will have Mastercard as the title sponsor.

This sponsorship and the associated activations aim to strengthen Mastercard’s relationship with cricket fans across the nation and beyond.

Mastercard’s affiliation with the BCCI further strengthens its prestigious portfolio of partnerships for a company that is heavily invested in global sponsorships with marquee properties like the UEFA Champions League, the Grammys, the Cannes Film Festival, and the Australian and French Open tennis tournaments.

In a formal statement, Sourav Ganguly, President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), said: “The BCCI is happy to have Mastercard as the home cricket title sponsor for the 2022–23 season.

The BCCI’s domestic competitions are essential in addition to the international home series since they serve as a first step in transforming India into a competitive international team.

The BCCI sincerely appreciates Mastercard’s assistance in developing Indian cricket. This sport is more than just a source of love; it’s a way of life, and we anticipate some cutting-edge fan experiences thanks to this cooperation, which will also benefit Mastercard.”

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah stated: “The BCCI is proud to partner with Mastercard, a well-known brand on a worldwide scale. In addition to Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy early next year, Australia and South Africa are coming for the white-ball series before the T20 World Cup.

Domestic cricket also has a packed calendar with the return of the Duleep Trophy and a full-fledged Ranji Trophy season.

There will be a lot of activity in all age categories throughout the 2022–23 season, and I am sure that this relationship will be fruitful.”

The renowned Indian cricketer MS Dhoni, who has served as Mastercard’s ambassador for more than four years, continued, “My life has been devoted to sport, which has given me everything. I’m overjoyed that Mastercard will be the official sponsor of all BCCI home cricket games, especially the domestic, junior, and women’s competitions. Today’s Ranji and junior athletes will represent their nation tomorrow and continue to inspire pride in the 1.3 billion Indians.”
