Micky Arthur

England must prevent their players from participating in their players’ participation in the Twenty20 Indian Premier League (IPL) to strengthen their test team, the former South Africa coach Mickey Arthur announced the following day (February 16).

England’s test squad was criticized following their loss in 5 of the Ashes series 4-0 to Australia and Australia.

The result was the cause of the resignation of the Head coach Chris Silverwood, batting coach Graham Thorpe, and managing director Ashley Giles.

Arthur, who has joined English County Derbyshire as cricket’s head after quitting his position as Sri Lanka coach late last year, has said that county cricket should not blame for England’s poor results in the tests of recent times.

“England hasn’t put up enough runs. That’s it,” Arthur told The Times.

“If you’re looking to lay your blame on someone else, do it there. The county cricket team isn’t at fault. For a long time, it has proved to be an excellent source for international stars.”

“I do not think there’s an issue regarding the method … If you’re looking for the force early in the season, unfortunately, you’ll need to stop players from attending the IPL. They’re playing at the beginning of the season, right before the first test. It is essential to have the best players in county cricket to be prepared for this.” He added.

England is redefining itself into an all-rounder powerhouse after their early departure of the 2014 World Cup, winning the next version of the sport’s biggest trophy on home soil.

However, their record in this most lengthy format hasn’t been as impressive in recent times as last year’s Ashes test defeat being their 15th consecutive test with Australia without a victory.
