Ruturaj Gaikwad returned to form with a magnificent 99, while Devon Conway slammed a quickfire 85 to help CSK post an impressive 202 for two after being brought into bat. With 99 runs off 57 balls, Gaikwad finally came into his own after a long season of not scoring runs. He was one short of the three-figure mark. Conway helped him, who made an unbeaten 85 from 55 balls.

After SRH captain Kane Williamson won the toss, he decided to bowl first, which backfired. The duo scored 182 runs in 17.5 overs for the first stand. They both went to T Natarajan (2/42). As a result, CSK kept SRH from getting more than 189 for six.
Nicholas Pooran led the way for SRH with an unbeaten 64 off 33 balls. Kane Williamson scored 47, and Abhishek Sharma had 39. He scored four for 46 for CSK.
