PM Narendra Modi today said at an event at a rally in Uttar Pradesh that his mother, 100 years old, never jumped the line for the Covid vaccination, even though “dynasts would have to do it.”
“Both I and mom were vaccinated. She’s 100, but she didn’t jump into the line for the vaccine. She waited her turn before getting the vaccine.” PM Modi told a crowd as he campaigned in Amethi about two hours away from Lucknow.
“She was born 100 years ago and did not have any co-morbidities; consequently, she has not received her booster shot. If it were”the Parivar Vadis(dynasts) who were responsible, they would have made sure that all of them received the vaccine in the first place,” the Prime Minister declared, pointing out his opponents, the Samajwadi Party, and Congress.
PM Modi has used the phrase ” Ghor Parivar Vadis” to denigrate Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav and the Congress, led by Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh election.
He has also spoken about the possibility of his government providing Covid shots available for free to people and has said that if it were left to the dynasts, the vaccines would be offered for sale.
Amethi was for a long time the Gandhi family stronghold and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s constituency in the House of Representatives until his defeat in the 2019 BJP election to Smriti Irani in the 2019 election.
Uttar Pradesh is voting in seven rounds. After that, the outcomes will be announced on the 10th of March.
