Indians living in war-torn Ukraine aren’t coming home, Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition Congress party, said Monday.
He said the government at the top of the country doesn’t have a plan to get them back, and it doesn’t have a way to deal with rising unemployment, rising prices, and the fall of the rupee.
The Gandhi scion also accused the Centre of only indulging in public relations.
“GOI doesn’t have a plan for. The rupee is at an all-time low; unemployment and inflation are at record levels; students are stuck in Ukraine, and China has taken over our land. Modi Government = Only PR,” Rahul Gandhi wrote said in a tweet.
Another Congress leader, Shama Mohamed, said in a tweet, “Rupee hits lifetime low, plummeting to 76.96 vs USD, its weakest level ever. As long as the UPA was in charge, Prime Minister Modi was worried that the Rupee had been taken to the ICU. When the Rupee is on the ventilator, he doesn’t seem to care.”
Then, in another tweet, she said that foreign investors have taken out Rs 2 lakh crore from India’s stock market since October.
The Congress leader said that prime minister Narendra Modi is too busy campaigning for the election to care about this “alarming exodus of investors,” the Congress leader said.
He asked Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to hold a press conference to talk about this.
Earlier this morning, PM spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin and discussed the safe evacuation of Indian citizens from war-torn Ukraine’s Sumy at the earliest.
PM Modi spoke on the phone to Russian President Putin. The phone call lasted for about 50 min. They talked about how the situation in Ukraine was changing. President Putin told Prime Minister Modi about the progress of talks between the Ukrainian and Russian teams, sources told ANI.
During their conversation, Prime Minister Modi said that it was essential to get Indian citizens out of Sumy as soon as possible.
President Putin told Prime Minister Modi that he would do everything he could to help them get out of the country.
The Prime Minister also appreciated the announcement of the ceasefire and establishment of humanitarian corridors in parts of Ukraine, including in Sumy, the sources said.
