Former India pacer Ashish Nehra has voiced his displeasure with using rookie fast bowler Avesh Khan in the present five-match T20I series against South Africa. Although Avesh went wicketless in the first three games, Nehra believes he hasn’t misplayed.
On the eve of the fourth T20I, Nehra said that if India needs someone to bowl in the middle and late innings, left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh may be a better choice.
“The only difference I perceive is how Avesh Khan is utilized. He got the opening over and bowled well in it, but he hasn’t bowled well since then.
He is being used in patches, not because he has bowled poorly, but because of how you have used him, and I believe Arshdeep Singh would be a better alternative if you want to use him like this. “During a Cricbuzz conversation, Nehra stated.

The management hasn’t “expressed complete trust” in Avesh yet, according to Nehra, who led Gujarat Titans to the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 championship last month.
“The ball swung a little in Bhuvneshwar’s first over, but it didn’t swing around much after that. If you have Arshdeep Singh, you may bowl him two overs to begin. You don’t have to worry about death if you give Bhuvneshwar Kumar a third over since you have Harshal Patel and Arshdeep Singh. Avesh Khan is now being seen improperly, so I’m not sure where his optimum usage is — at death, with fresh ball, or in midfield. Because he has bowled in all aspects of the game and the team management is yet to trust him fully, “former India pacer said
Team India produced a tremendous comeback in the third T20I, thrashing South Africa by 48 runs in Vizag after losing the previous two.
Team India will want to even the series when they face South Africa in the fourth T20I at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot, trailing 1-2 in the series.
