A train express was run in the very first instance by women from all personnel, including train’s loco pilot, security guard TTE security personnel, and guards and security personnel in the Chakradharpur (CKP) division of the South Eastern Railway on Tuesday to mark the International Women’s Day, an officer told.

The station officer explained that the train 13288 South Bihar Express, which runs from Danapur to Durg, was transformed into a Women Special Train from CKP and Rourkela station to commemorate Women’s Day.

Director of the Divisional Railway Vijay Kumar Sahu, who took the train to the arrival of it at CKP The flag was raised to start the train with the Chairperson of the SER Women Welfare Organization Anjula Sahu after it was changed to a Women Special train between the two stations that are part of SER, CKP division.

He said that the train was run exclusively by women employees, including the loco pilot and the deputy pilot, Guard, TTE, booking staff and station manager.

The aim was to create confidence among the women on women’s day, explained the Senior Divisional Manager for Commercial of the SER CKP division, Manish Pathak.

While SER has observed the day in the same manner in the past, this is the first time female workers were granted the power to manage trains that express.

The women’s staff have travelled about 165 kilometres between stations on their own.

The official said that the Railway Protection Force (RPF) ’s women officials have supervised the station and trains.
