On Monday, another special flight with 160 Indians arrived in Delhi from Budapest, Hungary.
This flight is part of Operation Ganga, which tries to bring back Indians who have been stranded in war-torn Ukraine (March 7).
A flight from Air Asia took the Indian students from Hungary and landed at the airport around 4-4:30 am, ANI said.
On Sunday, officials said that India had brought back more than 15,920 of its citizens on 76 flights as part of “Operation Ganga.”
As many as 700 students are stuck in Ukraine’s Sumy, where supplies are running out, and intense fighting blocks exit routes.
When people from India go to Romania, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, and Moldova, they are brought back to India.
This is called “Operation Ganga.” It took off from Bucharest on February 26 with the people who had been taken away.
There have been 13 flights in the last 24 hours that took around 2,500 Indians home.
There are seven more flights planned for the next 24 hours that will bring back Indians who were stuck in Hungary, Romania, and Poland.
“Under Operation Ganga, so far, 76 flights have brought more than 15,920 Indians back to their home country from all over the world. In the last 24 hours, 13 flights came in.” Official PTI talked to an official and said that they said that.
“It is also essential to put a stop to the fighting in Ukraine,” said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Sunday.
This would allow civilians who have been caught up in fighting in areas like Mariupol and Kharkiv to get out safely.
“It is essential to put a stop to the fighting in Ukraine so that civilians can get out of places like Mariupol, Kharkiv, and Sumy, as well as all other places where there is conflict, and so that life-saving humanitarian supplies can get in for those who stay.”
