Partha Chatterjee to be taken directly to court: Source

Partha Chatterjee, a former education minister for Bengal, was detained on Saturday by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) after more than 26 hours of questioning.

Arpita Mukherjee, a model, and actress who is said to be connected to Partha, has also been detained. Yesterday (Friday, July 22), at 7.30 am, ED officials arrived at Partha’s Naktala home, and today at 10 am, the ED officers brought Partha out.

Partha Chatterjee will be transported to the ED office in the CGO complex; it was previously reported. However, it seems that Partha is not being brought to the ED office and will most likely be sent straight to court after medical examinations.

According to an agency representative, Partha Chatterjee was detained concerning the investigation into the teacher recruiting fraud.

After around 26 hours of questioning about the investigation, Chatterjee, the state education minister at the time of the fraud, was taken into custody.

“Since Friday morning, our police had been interviewing him, but he was being uncooperative. He would appear in court throughout the day, “the ED representative informed PTI.

Arpita Mukherjee, a close associate of Chatterjee’s, has also been held by the ED after Rs 21 crore in cash was taken from her residence.
