PM Modi encourages voters

When the election of 60 Assembly constituencies spread across nine districts of Uttar Pradesh started on Wednesday (February 23 2022) in the morning, PM Narendra Modi appealed to voters to contribute to bolstering the democratic process.

Tweeting Twitter on Twitter, the Prime Minister wrote, “Today is the fourth round of voting in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. I ask all the voters to contribute to bolstering the democratic process by casting their vote.”

The Fourth phase of Assembly elections in the state began around 7 am and is scheduled to last until 6 pm.

A total of 624 candidates are currently in the contest in this phase of the seven-phase election.

The districts in which the poling process occurs include Pilibhit, Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Banda and Fatehpur.

As per the Election Commission, around 2.3 million people, comprising 1.14 million males and 99.3 lakh women, are eligible to vote. 24,643 polling booths and 13,817 polling stations are being set up in this stage.

Before 2017, in the Assembly elections, out of 59 seats of the 59 seats, they were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had taken 51 seats, and four went to Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party, while three were to Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party.

The BJP’s allies Apna Dal (Sonelal), won one seat.

The most prominent candidates this time around among the prominent candidates in this phase are Uttar Pradesh Law Minister Brijesh Pathak, The SP’s spokesperson for national elections Anurag Bhadauria, former SP minister Abhishek Mishra, the former Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Nitin Agarwal and Aditi Singh.
