Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur won their games on Sunday as the fight for fourth place in the Premier League heated up even more (May 1). Son Heung-min scored two goals in a 3-1 win over Leicester City and Harry Kane one in the win.
That briefly put Tottenham in fourth place, above Arsenal, who came back to beat West Ham United 2-1 thanks to goals by defenders Rob Holding and Gabriel, who were both on the score sheet. As of now, Arsenal has 63 points from 34 games. Tottenham hasn’t won a game in three, so they are on 61 points from 34 games.

Third-placed It doesn’t look like Chelsea will finish in the top four this season after they lost 1-0 at home to Everton, which was necessary for the hosts in their fight to avoid relegation. Richarlison scored the game’s only goal just one minute into the second half after Cesar Azpilicueta gave up the ball when he was being pressured by the Brazilian forward.
Everton is still in third place, but they are only two points behind 17th-placed Leeds United because they have played a game less. In 34 games, Chelsea has 66 points.
Chelsea’s record scorer and manager Frank Lampard knew how vital the win against his old club was to Everton, but he didn’t care. Asked about the game: “Today was a big game for us, and when you look at the fans who came before and what they did at the game—they were people of the match.”
It was a group of men, women, and kids who were all Everton-crazy. They love the club, and they helped us get over the finish line. In the end, we are still in the relegation zone. We have a different game, but we have to play with the same spirit in every match.
Tottenham knew they had to win at home against Leicester to get back into the top four. They had lost to Brighton & Hove Albion and drew with Brentford in their last two games, which were terrible. Son, who is running for the Golden Boot award, scored twice in a lively performance.
Son has scored 19 goals in the league this season, three less than the most goals scored by Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah. Son set up Kane with a tremendous header to put Spurs in front. He then added two more quality goals after the break, assisted by Dejan Kulusevski.
“We got three points at a significant time of the season, especially because we will play Liverpool and Arsenal in the next two games.”
There is a chance that Arsenal will finish in the top four for the first time since 2015-16. Manager Mikel Arteta said that his team could win ugly after beating West Ham. Holding headed in Bukayo Saka’s corner to break the deadlock in a quiet first half at the London Stadium. Jarrod Bowen’s deflected shot leveled the score before the break, though.
Gabriel scored a diving goal for Arsenal, though, so they won. In this case, Arteta said, “We won a lot because we made bad decisions when we were in possession.”
They didn’t give up and did the right thing, though. We did a great job of protecting it. It looked like we won ugly, but I’m very happy.
There is no way West Ham can finish in the top four this season. All of their attention is now on next week’s Europa League semi-final second leg away to Eintracht Frankfurt, having lost the first game 2-1.
