Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulates high jumper Tejaswin Shankar

Tejaswin Shankar, who took first place in the men’s high jump competition, received congratulations from Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the achievement.

“Tejaswin Shankar creates history,” Prime Minister Modi tweeted. “He wins our first high jump medal in the CWG. Congratulations to him for winning the Bronze medal. Proud of his efforts. Best wishes for his future endeavours. May he keep attaining success.”

Tejaswin Shankar of India won the bronze medal in the men’s high jump final on Wednesday at the current Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham with a height of 2.22 meters.

New Zealander Hamish Kerr, who finished with the bronze medal at the indoor world championships, took home the gold after clearing the 2.25-meter hurdle.
