Rhea Chakraborty approaches SC over ‘media trial’, says no objection if probe transferred to CBI

Actress Rhea Chakraborty said Monday that the Supreme Court said it has no objection if the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput’s death is transferred to the IWC. However, he also alleged that the Bihar police crossed his jurisdiction under “political pressure” and were unable to transfer the investigation to the CBI.

The actress approached the supreme court today with a new allegation alleging “lawsuits of the media” against her saying that attempts are being made to find her guilty of Sushant’s death.

Rhea also told the court that even if the case is transferred, jurisdiction will be with a court in Mumbai instead of Patna.

Meanwhile, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) today launched a new round of questioning with Rhea and her family members in connection with their investigation into a money laundering case linked to the death of Rajputs in Mumbai.

Rhea, her brother Showik and her father Indrajit Chakraborty reported at the central investigative agency’s office in the Ballard Estate area around 11 a.m. in response to their subpoena scheduled for Monday, the PTI news agency reported.

Shruti Modi, Rhea and Rajput’s business manager, also reported in ED’s office. All four had also been previously questioned by the agency.

Earlier, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut also said that the Center’s insistence that CBI should take over the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case is an attack on the autonomy of the state and an insult to the police of Mumbai.

“The decision to hand over the investigation to the IWC is an attack on the autonomy of the state… But anything can happen in our country when an issue is used for political gain and as part of pressure tactics. It seems that the script for the entire Sushant episode was predetermined and a lot could have happened behind the curtains. In short, it is a conspiracy hatched against Maharashtra, ”Raut had written in his weekly column Rokhthok in the Saamana party spokesman.

He also said that although the CBI is a central investigative agency, it has shown time and again that it is “not independent and impartial.”
