Rishabh Pant Breaks Kapil Dev's Near-Forty-Year Record

An Indian batter named Rishabh Pant made the fastest Test 50 of all time on Sunday when he reached 50 in 28 balls on the second day of the second Test against Sri Lanka in Bengaluru.

It was early when India had bowled Sri Lanka out for 109. The hosts quickly added to their first innings lead of 143 runs, with some quick runs in their second innings.

At No. 5, Rishabh Pant took charge of the innings and attacked the visitors’ bowlers to help India grip the game.

The fastest Test fifty by an Indian batsman was set by Kapil Dev almost 40 years ago. Pant broke the record with his quick 50.

Kapil Dev had made a half-century against Pakistan in the Karachi Test in December 1982, with 30 balls.

Pakistan won the game by an innings and 86 runs, even though he did a great job.

In the first Test match at home, Jasprit Bumrah took a five-wicket haul for the first time.

India ran through Sri Lanka’s middle order and bowled them out for 109.

On Day 2, Sri Lanka was batting at 86/6. They could only add 23 runs to their score.

In the first half, Rohit Sharma scored 46, and Hanuma Vihari added 35.

In the second innings, Virat Kohli was bowled out for 13 runs, in the same way he was bowled out in the first innings.

Praveen Jayawickrama took the wicket of Kohli because the low bounce of a ball fooled him.
