Mumbai Indians (MI) have used many opening combinations over the years. Last season, Rohit Sharda opened the batting with Quinton de Kock, South African wicketkeeper.
With Quinton de Kock out, MI will be using a new opening combination this year. Rohit Sharma, the skipper of MI, has revealed the names of those playing alongside him in Indian Premier League 2022.
“I will open the bat.” Rohit said during a virtual conference, “I have done that in the past, so I’m looking forward to opening with Ishan Kishan.”
While Kishan was primarily used as a middle-order batter, he has occasionally been called upon to open for MI when their first-choice player is out.
Mahela Jayawardene, former captain of Sri Lanka, was asked his opinion on Rohit-Ishan. He said that Rohit and Ishan were an excellent pairing up top. Ishan can also be a wicketkeeper, and very few people can bat in the top three.

While voicing his opinion about the new franchise’s bowling attack, Rohit Sharma stated: “Tymal mills and Jaydev Unadkat were new to the franchise, but they aren’t new to this game. They’ve been playing the game for many years and know what to do. Our role as team members will be crucial in how they understand what we need.”
They have worked for various franchises and countries where they played different roles. We see that as a challenge and are currently working with them. He stated that “we were trying to provide them with a clear understanding of what we expect from them and what role they should play.”
Mumbai Indians retained Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Baumrah, Kieron Pollard, and Suryakumar Yadav ahead of the mega auction.
The IPL 2022 will start on March 26, but the Mumbai Indians will face their first match against the Delhi Capitals on March 27.
