Karnataka minister KS Eshwarappa has been named in a police investigation in connection with a contractor’s suicide, which was discovered in a lodge in Udupi yesterday after accusing him of corruption, officials said.
It has been reported to the Udupi police that they have filed an FIR for aiding suicide under the Indian Penal Code.
Two of Mr Eshwarappa’s business partners are also named in the FIR. It was filed based on a complaint made by the brother of one of the contractors, Prashant Patil.

Mr Patil said that the minister’s associates were demanding a 40% cut of the 4 crore work in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj department, which he had done for free.
In his supposed suicide note, he said that Mr Eshwarappa was blamed for his death.
“KS Eshwarappa, the minister of the RDPR, is solely to blame for my death. I’m making this decision, putting my dreams on the back burner. I ask our prime minister, the chief minister, our lingayat leader BSY, and everyone else to help my wife and children. “Then he wrote.
Last week, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he has told the police to make sure that the investigation into the contractor’s death goes quickly and that it’s fair.
Mr Bommai said, “Eshwarappa has denied the claim. There was a defamation case against Santosh because he said that, and the investigation will find out the truth about what he said.”
Mr Eshwarappa, on the other hand, said yesterday that he didn’t know him and refused to resign because of the death of Mr Patil.
