UK claims Russia may use chemical or biological attacks on Ukraine

UK claims Russia may use chemical or biological attacks on Ukraine.

In reaction to a staged false attack on Russian forces, Britain’s Defence Ministry stated in a tweet on Monday that Russia may be plotting to use chemical or biological weapons in Ukraine.

In what it dubbed an intelligence update, it presented no proof to back up the claim. Officials from the United States have made similar sentiments.

“Such an operation may take the form of a staged ‘finding’ of agents or munitions, or created evidence of claimed Ukrainian planning to deploy such weapons,” the Twitter post said.

The Defence Ministry said it had found no evidence to back up Russia’s claims that Ukraine would use chemical and biological weapons.

The United Nations stated it had no evidence that Ukraine had a biological weapons program on Friday.

At the same time, Washington and its allies accused Russia of spreading the unverified claim as a possible prelude to its own biological or chemical assaults.

In a press conference on Friday, US President Joe Biden warned Russia that if its forces used chemical weapons against Ukraine, it would pay a “heavy price.”
