Villarreal wins Europa League for the first time with an epic penalty shootout.

Villarreal won the Europa League for the first time, losing to Manchester United in the longest penalty shootout.

Villarreal picked up the pace very well at the beginning of the match. They took the lead in the 29th minute of the game through Gerard Moreno’s goal. 

After that Dani Parejo made a superb free-kick. Moreno reached the ball with a perfect run, and he wrapped the ball in the opponent’s net.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea stands as a spectator. Villarreal went ahead with Moreno’s goal in the first half of the match. 

Gerard Moreno scored the seventh goal in the 2020-21 season.

Villarreal won the Europa League

However, our football experts have already predicted that the victory will not be easy for Villarreal. And so it is. Manchester United equalized in the 55th minute of the match. 

The Uruguayan footballer once again showed his worth. Cavani is playing for Manchester United for the first time this season. There is no doubt that he brought the Red Giants back into the match. With this, Cavani scored the number 10 goal in the last 11 matches.

The match ended in a draw in the allotted 90 minutes, and both teams scored one goal each. Another 30 minutes of extra time begins. However, that too did not have any effect on goal difference. 

Finally, the final match of the Europa League ended in a penalty shootout. In the end, Villarreal won 11-10 in a penalty shootout.

In this context, this is the first time Villarreal has won the foremost European League. They won today in a virtually dramatic penalty shootout against Manchester United. 

In the first half, Gerard Morano scored for Villarreal, but Edinson Cavani equalized for Man Utd in the second half. After that, any team can score more goals in the remaining matches and in extra time. 

A total of 20 footballers from both teams took shots in the penalty shootout. However, at the very last minute, the shot of the Manchester United goalkeeper became the deciding factor of the match. 

Villarreal goalkeeper Geronimo Ruli saved Davis the Gear’s shot. However, Ruli ensured the team’s victory by scoring a goal.
