Droupadi Murmu beat opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha with 2,824 votes worth 6,76,803 and 1,877 votes worth 3,80,177, respectively.
She will occupy the highest constitutional position in the nation for the second time; she is the first indigenous person to do so.
Murmu was the first female governor of Jharkhand and held the position from 2015 to 2021. She was born into a low-income tribal family in a hamlet in Mayurbhanj, a backward district in Odisha.
On July 25 at the Central Hall of Parliament, she will take the oath of office as India’s 15th president. Chief Justice of India NV Ramana will administer her oath of office.
