CM Mamata Banerjee will visit violence-torn Birbhum today

Mamata Banerjee, West Bengal Chief Minister, will visit Birbhum, where at least eight people, including two children, were killed in the act of violence. Also, several houses were set on fire due to the possible murder of a deputy chief village panchayat.

TMC chief said she would visit Bogtui village, where the horrendous incident occurred. She assured that the Birbhum district would not be tolerated for violence.

She described the incident as “unfortunate” and said that it was an attempt by the BJP Left, Congress, and Congress to denigrate our government.

All those responsible for the Birbhum Incident will be prosecuted regardless of their (political) color. She stated that the DGP has been in the district since yesterday.

She spoke out about past violence incidents in other states and said that MPs from her party were stopped at Assam’s airport to protest NRC implementation. Entry was not allowed into Hathras or Unnao in UP (where gang-rape cases took place), but her government wouldn’t do the same.

“This is Bengal, and not UP. We let everyone visit Birbhum. She said, “Not to justify the Birbhum murders, but such incidents more frequent in UP and Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh. Bihar, and Rajasthan.”

Banerjee claimed that these incidents resulted from a conspiracy to distract attention from other concerns, such as the price rise of petrol.

Banerjee made a veiled attack against Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar and said, “There is one Laat saheb’ (lordly person), sitting here” and described Bengal as the most abusive state hurling abuses towards the state government.

Since Tuesday, Banerjee had been involved in heated exchanges with Dhankhar over the Birbhum incident.

On Wednesday, a Bharatiya Janata Party delegation (BJP) visited Bogtui village, Birbhum district, to assess the situation. Suvendu Adhikari was the Leader of Opposition in West Bengal. Arjun Singh, a BJP MP, was also part of the delegation.

It is a regrettable incident. It is beyond condemnation. Calcutta High Court gave directions to Central Forensics. We want an NIA or CBI investigation. SIT is a wing of the state government.

The Chief Minister is trying to save the government. Adhikari stated that President’s rule was the only way to save Bengal.
