Egypt won the first leg of their World Cup play-off 1-0 after Saliou Ciss scored an own goal.
It was horrible for Ciss when a shot from Mohamed Salah was pushed onto the bar by Edouard Mendy. Then, it hit the defender and went into the goal.
The game was like the recent Africa Cup of Nations final, where Senegal beat Algeria on penalties after the match ended 0-0. There were few chances of significance for either team, and the match was very close.

When Salah and Sadio Mane were both on the field for Liverpool, they didn’t have excellent games.
On the other hand, Algeria and Tunisia both won 1-0, even though they were away, and Morocco scored an away goal in a draw with DR Congo. Ciss’ mistake meant that Egypt matched the achievements of their north African neighbors.
The teams meet again on Tuesday, with the winner going to Qatar for a tournament in November.
