Joe Gomez Signs a New Liverpool Contract: On Thursday, Liverpool defender Joe Gomez agreed to a five-year deal with the team. Gomez was rumoured to be leaving Anfield after making 21 appearances the previous season.
The 25-year-old is no longer Jurgen Klopp’s top centre-back pick, behind Ibrahima Konate, Joel Matip, and Virgil van Dijk.
Since joining the Reds in 2015, Gomez has also had debilitating knee and ankle problems. After extending his stay on Merseyside, Gomez still has a significant role to play, according to Klopp.
According to Klopp, one of Joe’s many excellent qualities is that he is young yet experienced, which is a good mix.
“He just turned 25 and arrived at the club before me. The greatest part is that he still has years ahead of him when he will be at his finest, and I could not be more thrilled that this will be the case with us.”
Liverpool has won the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with the aid of Gomez, who acquired from Charlton.
Added Gomez: “It is an incredible location.
In my opinion, one of the top clubs in the world right now, if not the best.
“It wasn’t hard to decide to prolong my stay here when the possibility presented itself.
“Despite the fact that I have been in this place for a long, I still feel youthful and my greatest years are still to come. I still have time and room to learn more.”
